Hatter's Castle is a heritage building located within Sime Darby's private property. Built in the 1920s, the bungalow’s design was so well received at the time that it became the model for all hill station and plantation bungalows erected during the colonial era. About an hour's drive from Petaling Jaya you need to enter the Sime Darby main gate to reach Hatter's Castle. There is no entrance fee but since we did not make any prior arrangements, we were only able to see the outside of the bungalow. The maintenance team were kind enough to use the toilet so we got a quick glimpse of the interior. There are 3 large banyan trees with fascinating roots in the well-kept gardens. The gardener and contractor working there were very friendly and all smiles. The contractor told us his grandfather used to work here and sent us some old photos. It's great that this heritage building is restored and maintained.
