1. Expect low productivity process although the office packed with many staffs lingering around. Slack walk. Every single move was totally slow. 2. Expect to understand local language (bahasa melayu) otherwise you will need a translator to communicate with the front counter staff. 3. Expect a rude or unfriendly attitude towards you because they tend to have skeptic mind to interviewee.

4th Feb 2019 - my young family and I were excited to go on a short holiday to Jakarta (where my wife hails from). At KLIA as we were walking towards the immigration counters, my wife in her excitement to take photos of our 3 young children didn’t realise that photo taking was not allowed . But what spoilt the start of our holiday was when an immigration officer (in an unbuttoned jacket) started to shout at her and pointed to the “No photos” signboard. He yelled “Hey! Hey! No photos !” My wife calmly said to the officer “you do not have to shout, I am not a criminal” to which the officer stared at her before she cooly walked away. One of the KLIA customer service ladies actually apologised to my wife for the officer’s behaviour. My message to the immigration department and the Minister concerned : you are doing a public service and your actions and language is at the frontline of this beautiful country. Learn some public relations and courtesy. Wearing a uniform does not entitle you to be rude to others . I have travelled to many countries and courtesy is always important for front line personnel. Take a step back and learn from some other government departments like LHDN who are always pleasant and courteous, it makes me glad I am paying my taxes. Which are partly used to pay they officer’s salary ! Dato Mazlin Junid Kuala Lumpur
