Nice surroundings with plenty of colonial buildings within walking distance..the open public food court will be nice if it installed with blind to shade the place which is quite hot or extremely hot at noon.

This is a British constructed clock tower since 1909, located just a short walking distance from the Ipoh Railway station. It is also part of the Ipoh Heritage Trail. Well maintained vicinity, local food court and public toilets are available.

Beautiful location and tower. Nice walk heading up to it. There's a food court you can visit in the morning, but I went in the evening so no opinions there It's a relaxing place to be - really cool to imagine what it might have been like back in the day, listening for the clock tower on the hour. The mural on the tower itself depicts the growth of civilization via 44 historical figures in four panels. It's definitely a beautiful specimen of colonial architecture.

Part of Ipoh heritage trail attraction. Near a city center. A clock tower near a mosque and hawker stall. Pretty area for picture if you can stand the hot sun

Visited back in Jan. The Birch Memorial Clock Tower is a clock tower located close to the main railway station of Ipoh and the town hall of the city. The tower was created as a memorial to James Birch, who was the British resident of Perak during the British Empire. As clock towers go, this is a standard four sided tower with each face displaying a clock. The tower is painted in a simple black and white scheme, and interestingly has four spires surrounding the tower rather than on the tower itself. Most of the things to see in Ipoh are around this area, so it’s worth a quick diversion.

This clock tower is a british erected memorial to JWW Birch, the first Brirish Resident of Perak who was assassinated at Pasir Salak in 1875. On the four walls are murals depicting leading figures in world history. The tower was unveiled in 1909.
