Kampung Janda Baik

From our stay at Radiant Retreat, we drove 6 km to this place named Pulau Santap. This was not an island (pulau is island in the Malay language) but rather a narrow strip of a river bank for recreation. I reckoned the width of the river was about 8 metres. There were several huts and bbq pits on the river bank which it seemed one could rent either for a day or overnight. We waded in the shallow waters of the river and were puzzled as to why there wasn’t anyone else in the river, be it wading, doing river tubing or just playing in the river. Checking Google map, it seemed this place had been permanently closed! Crossing the pedestrian/ motorbike bridge over to the other river bank, we took a leisurely walk along the road beside the river and discovered a fig farm named Figs Malaysia Farm about 300 metres from the bridge. A friendly Malay man welcomed us and invited us to see the fig trees in the greenhouse covered with plastic. The fig tress looked healthy, not tall and many were bearing fruits. The fruits were really large. We bought a packet of 4 large figs costing RM30.00 (30 Jan 2020) - pretty expensive but we just want to try MALAYSIAN figs.
