Visited Alor Setar and this museum back in Feb before the MCO. This museum is the former palace of the royal family of Kedah, but now 0exhibiting various items related to the royal family. The museum is free to enter. As for the inside, there isn’t really that much to see. The museum is actually just a few rooms and you can get through it in15 to 30 minutes. The museum is located near the Alor Setar Tower and pretty much where most of the attractions of Ipoh are, so it’s worth a detour.

A historical and pretty little museum. Amazing architecture that are worth seeing. Also, great place to visit for those who want to learn more of history of royal artifacts and the entire walk down the museum takes about 30 minutes. Little historical facts on this museum: The Kedah Royal Museum is house in of the earlier palace built in 1735 by the 19th Sultan of Kedah and was in used as a palace until 1943. Located downtown. Free entrance. Strictly no photography inside the museum, however, photography are allowed to take outside the museum.

Housed in traditional Malay building, there are numerous artifacts from the Kedah sultanate in the past. There is also a separate exhibition in the memory of the late Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim just a few steps away. Both are open to public and free to enter. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
