The place is open when there is Rafflesia and tourist don’t understand the importance of this flower and that it’s very existence depends on the habitat. The landowners cannot depend on the availability of the bloom as a life resource but before this flower goes extinct, steps should be taken in showing conservation efforts. This is exactly what the Poring Hot Springs park rangers are doing. As an encouragement, locals are growing fruits as a source of being self sufficient. Paying 30RM for seeing one rafflesia is worth every penny as it’s that rare a flower and if habitat not maintained would be that extinct flower.

This place is located on the way to Poring Hot springal at Ranau. You can see the banner at the road side. Rafflesia flower take 15 months to growth and only bloom for 6 days. Second to third days is the most beautiful time for the flowers. So, it is depending on the luck if you visit this place. However, they have a lot of Rafflesia at different growing stage. They will guide and explain when you visit the place.

Not sure if the flowers were real since there was no stench and they looks too 'perfect'.. maybe we were just lucky to catch them at their first and second day but it felt suspicious. We were not allowed to go near the flowers which were behind fences. The host was nice enough (assuming we didn't get conned). Tickets are expensive (but can be negotiated down), worth it only if you really want to see the rafflesia.

Another flower blooming in a few days. According to the guide they only last for a week so better call to find out. More flowers coming next year!
