老王沙爹 Beh Leh Hainam Satay (formerly Hai Heng Hainam Satay) - closed Tuesdays located at 313, Jalan Gajah Berang, 75200 Melaka. The varietues includes pork satay, intestine satay, chicken gizzard satay, and ketupat. Hainanese pork satay is one of the must eats in Melaka. Not because it’s exceptional or better than the normal satay, but because it’s harder to get elsewhere. As far as I know, there are only two Hainanese pork satay stalls left in Penang while there are plenty in Melaka. Some of the more successful ones even operate as restaurants. The Hainanese pork satay stall has been around for decades, now run by the second generation. It is not a coincidence for most Hainanese pork satay you get in Melaka to share a similar marinade and dipping sauce. In fact, most of them originate from the same family recipe which was passed on to different family members who have gone separate ways. So grilling skill aside, how close they stay to the original recipe is what really sets them apart. The satay is prepared with mainly pork shoulder and a slice of pork fat is sandwiched consistently between the meat. They are tender with a bite and tasted quite light on its own.

This shop had moved to neighbor shop with much better ambience. Cooler, brighter and cleaner. Satay quality maintained. Only if they could add belimbing to the satay sauce, would be perfect. However, pineapple is good enough. Will definitely visit again!

Been to the old and new shop. Satay still tastes the same. Maybe they should invest in better technologies in terms of getting a TV screen to display the orders being prepared and served. And maybe those orders which are ready, they can send a notification to the customer's mobile no. to notify that their order is ready. It will save the cashier's throat from getting hurt by shouting the orders too often and also reduces confusion in the orders.
