A vibrant little town with many adventures waiting for your exploration. Be fascinated by the richness of culture and history. Indulge in the warm (or at most of the time heat) of the weather while enjoying the local food and drinks. It is undeniable that with the booming of tourism, things have turned more commercialized, yet still you will find this place worth a visit if you are willing to open your mind, taking time strolling through streets and alleys to discover the treasures hidden within.

Good place to learn about Malacca/Malaysia’s history. It’s worth taking 2hrs for this place. There are also a small souvenir shop inside, which shows meteoroid for sale.
Visited back in Feb before the lockdown. The Stadthuys is the old city hall during the Dutch Colonial period, but is now both a tourist attraction and a museum. Like much of Dutch Square, this building is also painted red. Most people seem content to come to the square just to get their photograph taken and not so many visit Stadthuys Museum Complex. The Stadthuys Museum is one of five museums inside the complex and is a history museum of Malaysia up to present day with sections dedicated to pre-colonial times through the rules of the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese. The exhibits are a bit of a mixed bag. The majority of the exhibits are of good quality with well written descriptions. The museum also presents history using paintings which are okay, but the description accompanying the paintings feel like they’ve been written by a secondary school student. My favourite part of the museum is on the 2nd floor, called the Cheng Ho Gallery which details the exploits of the famous mariner of the 15th century.
Very nice view to take picture and historical place.
Colourful pedal rickshaws decked with cartoons, balloons, lights, flowers & blaring music, is a common sight in the town of Melaka. They are unique for their decoration, but not everyone is attracted by their gaudy looks and noisy travel. But for the tourist, a single ride can be a memorable experience. A throwback to the colonial times. Or just a romantic ride. Children will enjoy the ride. And when they are not ferrying passengers, they all rest & wait in the shadows of a red building called The Stadthuys.
