A must see if you want to truly know the various ethnic races of Malaysia. A place to go through the corridor of history and fill your cup of general knowledge. Also you will be supporting local tourism.

There was an exhibition held by Melaka In Fact when I visited the museum. I learn so much from the guide person who is Chetti can speak Chinese and English. Suggest following Melaka In Fact on Facebook to get information. In addition, tourist could walk into the village. It's quite special experience.

The Chitty had previously desired to run a museum but were stymied by the 1997 financial crisis. Visits in June 2000 by Tan Sri Hj Rustam, Chief Minister of Malacca at the time, secured the necessary funding to establish the museum. The construction of the museum was funded by Melaka State Government and completed in September 2002. It was constructed by Melaka Museum Corporation (PERZIM). The museum was opened on 5 August 2003 to introduce the culture of Chitty community. The museum is about the minority Chitty community which are found in Malaysia and Singapore. The museum is located within Chitty Village

Wouldn’t want to rate this but wanted to correct a detail - which is that it is not open on Mondays. Long walk in the sun to find this out. The neighborhood, however, is fascinating and worth seeing.

Those Indian traders who came as early as Malacca Sultanate settled married with local Malay. They have forgotten how to speak Tamil but practice Hinduism.
