That 5 star is not exactly for this place but for the nicest uncle I met at one of the unnamed shops selling old records, tchotchkes, souvenirs and various items. I merely went here because of the rain, but ended up spending more than an hour talking to the uncle about life, politics, music, and our different culture. He is in his 70s but still very enthusiastic and pleasant. I hope he is well and safe from harm. The shop he works at has a lot of treasures, go visit it, and please send my regards!

Visited in Jan before the MCO. The Dataran Underground is an underground shopping and events complex below Merdeka Square, which was the actual place I was visiting. As other reviewers have mentioned, many of the shops in the complex were vacant. The shops that were open were mostly selling touristy items and of no interest to me. Fine to visit if you’re planning on visiting the square or the many fine attractions around it. Otherwise I would not go out of the way to visit Dataran Underground.

Good place with spacious parking , gift shops, cafetaria , clean toilet and surau. Fully aircondition and clean. Nearby LRT Masjid Jamek station and MRT Merdeka.

Lots of and variety of food can be found at here. The food and drinks are great. They even got a Karaoke stage, music shows, and wedding every once in a while. The service are fast and friendly. I recommend D'sambal for delicious foods and drinks. And also you can claim parking for free.

Most of the tourist and even local peoples don't know there is a underground market. Now a days more than half of the market is empty. Variety of food is available, some souvenir shops are very nice.market area is clean and tidy but washrooms are not cleaned.

Parking rate quite expensive, nonetheless the food is good at reasonable prices
