Historic place where subsequents successors of the Malaccan Sultanate known as the Old Johore Kingdom continued its sovereignity in the Malay Peninsular after it lost the Malacca fort to the Portuguese. Its the capital of the descendants from the Malaccan Sultanate Kings before a 'coup de tat' in 1699 that caused the throne to fall at the hand of the Bendahara (Treasurer). The Sultan of Pahang is from the Bendahara lineage.
