During the CNY 2021 to Goddess of Mercy & Kek Lok Si Temple is always pack with people and vehicles. The access road is very narrow. The traffic is crawling and bumper to bumper. Advisable to park at the foot of the Kek Lok Si Temple and take a stroll up to the Goddess of Mercy & Kek Lok Si Temple. Night is very spectacular with Led lights. The lights will be switched off after 10.00pm. Must visit.

This majestic and gigantic temple complex on a hill side is one of the most prominent landmark of Penang ,and a hugely popular tourist attraction. This temple was build more than 100 years ago, and construction was completed in 1905. Over the years, it has slowly been expanded and a huge standing statue replica of Bodhisattva Avalokiteswara, or Goddess of Compassion was build on top of a little hill in recent years. It was a beautiful sight to behold, especially during festivities like Chinese New Year with the lanterns brightly lit up. You can either drive your car up to the temple building, and travel by cabled lift up to the higher hill where the statue is. Entrance is free. But the lift is chargeable.

It is very beautiful place and provide free entry without ticket Many spots for beautiful photos. The temple is tranquil and peaceful. We took the lift to go up to the Kuan Yin part of the temple. (RM12/pax)

Such a fascinating site that is enriched all the more with a guide. The history is gripping and peaceful if the monks are conducting a ceremony. Not to mention that the view from the top is incredible and frankly covid is a great time to go since it's not crowded. The temple is consistently under repair and expansion but rather than taking away from the experience it provoked and inspired me to return one day to see what development will have taken place
